Fear of Falling Class

Feeling held back by fear while lead climbing? Finding it difficult to totally trust your belayer? Confused how you are supposed to ‘get over’ a fear of heights? Join our Fear of Falling clinic to gain the skills to confidently lead and fall safely!

Falling is a physical skill that needs to be practiced. Through practice, we gain knowledge of what happens when we fall. This knowledge enables us to make more informed risk assessments when climbing. Fall practice is also a vehicle for improving awareness and management of stress and fear, which can in turn improve our performance and enjoyment in climbing!

In this class, you will learn:

  • The Fall Practice: an incremental, modular approach for expanding your comfort zone with lead falls.

  • Differentiate between productive and unproductive stressors, avoid distress/panic

  • Advanced lead belay skills: learn to give a soft catch to any partner, gain experience and confidence in your belayingBelaying: spot and belay a lead climber

6 Climbers : 1 Instructor with a 2 person minimum. Classes with less than 2 attendants will be cancelled.
